Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how information is handled in “bindchat” (the “App”), an iPhone app provided by Ofuchi Daichi (the “Developer”).
In short: Your conversations, the text you type and the documents you import are processed and stored on your iPhone only. They are never sent to the Developer or to any third-party server. The Developer does not collect personal data through the App. To keep the App free, however, Google AdMob may collect certain information to serve ads (see “4. Advertising”).
1. Information we collect
The Developer does not collect personal data through the App. There is no account, and the Developer does not obtain your name, email address, location or contacts. For information Google collects to serve ads, see “4. Advertising”.
2. Information processed only on your device
- Conversations: Your questions and the AI's answers are processed by an AI model running on your iPhone (llama.cpp). Chat history is stored only on your device, and you can delete it in the App at any time.
- Imported documents: PDF, text and Markdown files you import into knowledge packs, and the search data built from them (indexes and vectors), are stored only on your device and are never uploaded.
- Settings: Your selected model and other preferences are stored only on your device (UserDefaults).
This data is removed from your device when you delete the App. If it is included in an iPhone backup (such as iCloud Backup), Apple's privacy policy applies to that backup.
3. Network use
The App connects to the internet only in these cases:
- Model downloads: When you choose to download a model in the Models tab, the model file is downloaded directly from Hugging Face (huggingface.co and its content delivery servers) to your device. A model you add by URL is downloaded from the server at that URL. As with any internet connection, that server receives information such as your IP address and the time of the request. Hugging Face's privacy policy (or the policy of the operator of the URL you entered) applies to these downloads. The Developer does not receive any of this traffic.
- Ad requests: When an ad is shown on an empty new chat, the App contacts Google's ad servers to request it (see “4. Advertising”).
- Opening links: When you tap a link in Settings (support page, privacy policy, licenses and so on), the page opens in Safari or your default browser.
Your conversations and imported documents are never sent during downloads or ad requests.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
To stay free, bindchat shows one Google AdMob ad in the center of an empty new chat. It disappears when you send your first message and is not shown again in that chat. It is not shown anywhere else.
- Your chat content is never sent anywhere. Your questions, answers, knowledge pack content and models stay on your device. The only network traffic is for requesting the ad.
- To serve ads, Google may collect the advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, device type, and ad impression and interaction data.
- The advertising identifier is used only if you allow it in the iOS “Tracking” prompt. If you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalized. The App works the same either way. You can change this later in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are shown Google's consent message and can choose whether to consent.

The App does not use any other analytics tools or third-party SDKs.
5. Contact and “Report This Answer”
When you tap Contact, or touch and hold an AI answer and choose “Report This Answer”, your Mail app opens with a pre-filled email (for a report, the answer and the App version). You decide whether to send it and can edit it first. The App never sends anything on its own.
If you send an email, the Developer uses your email address and its content only to respond to you, investigate problems and improve AI answers, and does not share it with third parties except as required by law. Emails are deleted when no longer needed.
6. Children's privacy
The App does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. The App is not directed at children. AI answers may include content that isn't appropriate for every age, so parents may also want to use features such as Screen Time.
7. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated, for example when the App's features change. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the way data is handled changes significantly, it will also be announced in the App's update notes.
